Short Homecoming Dresses 2014

Homecoming season may be coming to an end, but the back-to-school parties are just getting started, which is why I want to share with you my favourite short homecoming dresses from Ihomecoming.com

First we have a couple of fitted or bodycon dresses, with a sexy option and a sweet looking one. The one on the left is obviously the sweet one, and features a really pretty sweetheart neckline with a beautiful lace texture overlay that conceals cleavage and shoulders. I think this dress has a 1920's vibe and looks best with natural makeup. The dress on the right comes in a mysterious dark blue colour with beading all over and a V-neck with small sleeves or shoulder straps to ensure everything stays in place.

Then we have a couple of skater style dresses, again with a sexy option and a more playful one. The left dress has pastel blue embroidered flowers on the bodice part over a nude sheer fabric that covers the shoulders. It also features a waist-enhancing sash and a layered skirt with lots of volume. The more seductive option is a bit similar to the left dress in the way it has a sheer fabric covering the cleavage, as well as having a voluminous skirt, though the sash is beaded which adds glamour to this dress. How can a long sleeve dress be sexy? you may be wondering, but this dress has a naughty surprise with its backless design resembling a fitted leotard that tucks into the skirt when seen from the back.

Favourite Summer Lip Products

Burt's Bees tinted lip balm hibiscus, bourjois crayon orange punch, revlon balm stain honey.

Summer is (sadly) going so quickly, but before it ends I wanted to share my favourite summer lip products with you. I'm not a big lipstick wearer as I like to go for a more natural look, so none of my most used products are lipsticks but I love them nonetheless.

Bourjois Lip Crayon in Orange Punch: Don't be scared by the neon packaging of this lip crayon, it is actually a warm orange that goes really well with olive or yellow skin undertones. It's quite sheer and creamy as well as the Burt's Bees balm, but even more buildable and even provides sun protection with its SPF 15.

Revlon Balm Stain in Honey: I wrote about this balm stain before and how I was a bit disappointed that it isn't actually a nude, but the fact that it turns a bright pink makes it a great option for summer. This lip stain has a minty scent that tingles on the lips, and the consistency is thicker than the Bourjois option, which makes it a bit more opaque and longer lasting.

Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Hibiscus: This is a really sheer coloured lip balm but you can build it up a bit. I like that it's 100% natural ingredients, including soft flower waxes, shea butter, vitamin E and beeswax. It leaves lips moisturised, soft and with a pretty orange toned pink wash of colour, and because of its compact size, you can take it anywhere.

What are your favourite lip products for summer?

There are actually quite a few pictures from that day that I wanted to share, so I'll have to do it in 2 parts.
Leigh-on-Sea is a nice little town on the way to Southend-on-Sea. I hadn't really been there before, only gone past on the train when going to Southend, so it was like a little adventure because I had no idea where I was going.
My family and I had a picnic by the tiny beach and then decided to explore the town. More pictures to follow soon ;)

Old Wives Tail Organic Hair Treatment Review & Giveaway

Old Wives Tail Organic Hair Treatments SOS oil

Recently I got contacted by Old Wives Tail, a small hair care company that sells 100% handmade organic products with no additives or chemicals, to try one of their products.

Since I suffer from a dry and itchy scalp (glamorous) thought that I could benefit from trying the SOS Organic Anti-Hair Loss Oil Treatment, which states it soothes, moisturises and softens the scalp to prevent hair loss. It also mentions that this oil contains anti-bacterial agents that heal scalp infections and remove dead skin cells, as well as having stimulating properties that increase circulation and encourage healthy hair growth.

Even though I normally experience a bit of hair loss when I brush or wash my hair, it is completely natural and am not concerned about that very much, but what made me select this oil to try is that it mentioned it gets rid of dead skin, which sometimes accumulates on some areas of my scalp and can be visible and embarrassing.

When I use the SOS oil, I put it all over my scalp and massage to make sure it gets through and then apply some more on the lengths of my hair, after I've left it for an hour I wash it twice to completely get rid of any residue.

What I really like about this product is that it smells amazing - it contains olive, avocado, almond, lavender, peppermint and clove oils, though it mostly smells of peppermint and lavender. I also noticed that after washing, my hair is noticeably shinier, softer, smoother and it also has more volume at the roots; and the visible dry skin on my scalp has considerably reduced so I will keep on using.

The only downside that I've found is that this product is very runny and the packaging makes for a bit of a messy application, so a pump would be greatly appreciated. Quite a good product nonetheless, so I would recommend it for dry scalps and for adding more volume to your roots.

Sexy Mermaid Wedding Dresses

The most special day in their life, for a lot of women, is their wedding day. It's the day you get to dress up like a princess for a whole day, which means the dress that you wear that day has to be what you always dreamed of.

At DressV they specialize in party and wedding dresses, and on this occasion they wanted to share some of their mermaid style wedding dresses.

The left dress reminds me of the 1920's and I can imagine Daisy Buchanan wearing this dress on her wedding day. It has a vintage feel to it with the lace overlay and the long train, but being not very fitted makes it comfortable enough to wear the whole day. The sheer panel over the shoulders acts as a lightweight cover up in case you don't like bearing your arms and shoulders, making it a modest yet gorgeous option. The right dress contrasts with the previous one as this one features a strapless and fitted bodice with a waist-accentuating sash, resembling a modern version of the left dress.

The dress on the left reminds me of my own wedding dress, with it's full lace overlay and fitted style, I love that it has a sweetheart neckline with a sheer lace panel over the shoulders as well as the arms, to keep you from showing what you don't want on show. The right dress makes me instantly think of Grace Kelly as it has a very regal and classical look. It's similar to the left dress with the sweetheart neckline and lace overlay, but features a V-neck and an embellished sash that highlights your waist and adds some sparkle. The skirt has some lace details over a satin fabric which gives it a more glamorous look, opposed to the vintage vibe the left dress gives. Find more Sexy Mermaid Wedding Dresses at DressV.

3 Summer Hair Ideas

easy fast simple summer hair ideas

Sometimes it's not hard to get stuck in a hair routine, but with a few simple tips you can easily change it up. I've been trying these recently and thought I would share them with you:

1. Add some texture: this is especially helpful if you have straight hair like me, as using some product such as salt spray to add texture to your hair gives it a different look without much effort. I've been using got2b Beach Matt Texturizing Salt Spray, I spray it all over the lengths of my hair avoiding roots and ends and then scrunch it a little to give it that nice beachy/bedhead/Olsen twin hair texture.

2. Lighten your hair: this is one to try if you are feeling daring, as lightening your hair is permanent. A couple of years ago I would never have thought of lightening my hair, but seeing the ombre trend on almost every news feed of mine made me want to give it a try. I've been using Lee Stafford Sun Kissed Lightening Spray on the ends of my hair to give it a subtle ombre look. You just spray this on and then use your hair dryer to activate it. I've repeated the process around 10-15 times through the last few months and the results are visible but not extreme.

3. Accessorize: it's something really simple but when you think about it, accessories do liven up even the plainest hair styles. Try adding a sparkly brooch or hair bow to your everyday pony tail or bun, a headband to frame your face or even a couple of embellished barrettes to deep side parted hair to look extra polished in an instant.

Will you be trying any of these ideas?

A bit of a more girly outfit. The cardigan was a gift from my parents when they came to visit in June and the bow hair clip I actually bought when they were here. It's too cute, so I couldn't resist. Next week is my birthday so I might do a bit of shopping this weekend.

Cute Homecoming Dresses 2014

Homecoming is a very important occasion on a student's life, which is why of course you want to look great. At DressV they have a wide array of dresses for lots of special occasions, such as weddings, proms and of course, homecoming.

If your style is fun and flirty, you are going to love these dresses in pastel colours, that as you might already know, are great colours to wear this season.

Both dresses feature a strapless neckline but the left one is a lively mint green colour with a satin sash and bow with long ribbons, and also has an asymmetrical skirt to give it more movement. The dress on the right has a beautiful layered style with a sheer floral texture fabric on top. It also has a nice sash with a bow and because of the style and pastel yellow colour it makes me think this is something the stylish Taylor Swift would wear.

If you prefer a bit of a longer length on your dresses then you might like these options, again in light colours, as they will keep you fresh during sunny summer days.

  Cute Homecoming Dresses 2014

I know these dresses also have a strapless neckline but I think it's a really feminine touch to have your shoulders bare. The left dress also has a sweetheart neckline and with its pink pastel colour it just looks gorgeous. Accentuating the waist is a must to show off your curves (or creating the illusion of some) so a little sash around the waist with a bow know is the way to do it. Along with the ruched bodice and ruffled skirt, this dress adds volume in all the right places.
The dress on the right shows that white is not necessarily best left for wedding dresses only. As well as highlighting your waist, the layered skirt gives it lots of movement so you are sure to look great when you take on the dance floor. Both dresses have a bit of a retro look to them, so combined with a deep side part and long wavy hair will get you looking like a glamorous old Hollywood star.
