Favourite Autumn/Winter Lip Products

burt's bees red dahlia tinted lip balm, revlon lip butter raspberry pie, bourjois color boost plum russian

Winter is only a couple of weeks away and even though venturing out into the freezing cold doesn't sound very appealing, the thought of gorgeous berry red tones for lips being in season definitely does.

My favourite autumn/winter lip products are:

Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Red Dahlia: This one is very sheer but super moisturising and leaves a natural sheen on the lips that I like. Perfect for daytime.

Revlon Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie: This one is definitely more opaque and there's more of a pink tone to it. Not as moisturising as the Burt's Bees one but not drying either. Great for evening.

Bourjois Color Boost in Plum Russian: A bit of an in-between product: it's moisturising like a lip balm but with more colour pay-off. It has a shiny finish and it leaves a stain on the lips as it fades. Good everyday choice.

What are your most loved winter lip products?

Last weekend Dot and I went to London to do a bit of shopping on Oxford Street. I only got a couple of bits from H&M and Uniqlo. We also had a look in Carnaby Street, as well as Heddon Street, where David Bowie shot the cover of his Ziggy album.

On Sunday I had my first ever bloggers meetup at Lakeside Shopping Centre where I met 5 other Essex bloggers. The lovely ladies I had the chance to meet are Michelle, who organized the meetup, Chloe, April, Haydy and Jen. We had brunch at Ed's Diner and then went to do a little bit of shopping before heading back home.

Next week I have an interview for a new job and I'm a bit nervous but really excited as well, wish me luck!

Have a nice weekend.

Dresswe Apparel

With party season fast approaching it is important that you start looking into what you would like to be wearing during the Christmas and New Year festivities. At Dresswe they have short cocktail dresses for 2015 on promotion, and these are my favourite ones:

The left one is a classic little black dress with a twist - it features a sash to cinch in your waist and a lace detail over the shoulders and bust to add texture and cover up a bit more. The right one is a little more sparkly, with sequins lined up to give the illusion of an hourglass shape, this dress also has a sash to mark your waist, a V-neck and short sleeves.

And as well as dresses, Dresswe has a big collection of cheap ankle boots for women, and a couple of pairs that I liked are these ones:

These real leather motorcycle boots on the left have a gold buckle and chain detail and a tiny heel, they would look amazing with everything from dresses and jeans to shorts and skirts. The ankle boots on the right look really similar to the Jeffrey Campbell Lita boots and you can get them for a fraction of the price. I'm not a high heel sort of person but the fact that these have a huge platform and block heels makes them more comfortable and adds stability.

One Magazine, Five Freebies

Glamour UK December 2014 Freebies

My favourite magazine, Glamour UK, is being very generous this month. With the December issue you get a free Nails Inc nail polish in 1 of 4 available colours (I chose Hanover Square, a deep purple), a Pantene Pro-V Breakage Defence Conditioner sample, a Stella by Stella McCartney perfume sample, a 20% off H&M discount card and a Little Card of Christmas Wishes by the Body Shop worth £3, £15, £100 or even £1000 (I was lucky enough to get TWO in my copy of Glamour).

Pretty excited about all these freebies which pretty much paid for the magazine already haha. Be sure to pick it up before it sells out so you get a chance to make use of the cards inside it.

Currently listening for the first time to Julian Casablancas + The Voidz album and it's nothing like any of his previous work with the Strokes or by himself, it's quite weird and don't know if I like it yet, maybe it it will take a few more listens. I'm still a fan of the ol' Jules and we'll go see him next month.

Reading | Endgame: The Calling

Endgame: The Calling

Recently I received an early uncorrected proof copy of the book Endgame: The Calling, by James Frey and Nils Johnson-Shelton. The story is based around 12 ancient cultures from all over the world that were chosen millennia ago to represent humanity in Endgame, a global game that will decide the fate of humankind. Endgame has always been a possibility, but never a reality... until now.

As 12 meteorites strike the earth, it signals each of the young (13 to 20 year old) Players that their time to try and win Endgame has begun. The winning Player gets to save their bloodline, the others will not, and in order to do so they must find 3 keys hidden around the world. In the first instalment of Endgame we get to meet the characters and their personalities as they fight their way to find the hidden keys in this game of life and death. They all have been training for almost as long as they've lived but only the strongest will survive.

As I read Endgame: The Calling, I got into it more and more and find that it has a similar theme as The Hunger Games - playing a survival of the fittest type of game. The only thing that I can't really stand is that the Peruvian player is the Olmec (a pre-hispanic Mexican civilization) and on top of that his surname is Tlaloc (the Aztec god of rain). Other than that, the story is quite gripping and I can't wait to know who Engame's winner is, and see how it translates to film (Twentieth Century Fox has bought the movie rights).

There is also a treasure hunt inspired by the book Masquerade: each book is a puzzle and with the first one you can win $500,000 USD in gold coins if you can decipher the clues embedded inside the book, which will lead you to find the location of a hidden key that opens the box with the coins, currently on display in the Caesars Palace Hotel in Las Vegas.

Majestic Bombay Stainless Steel Ingrown Hair/Splinter Tweezer

Majestic Bombay Stainless Steel Ingrown Hair/Splinter Tweezer

Recently I received a pair of tweezers by Majestic Bombay. What's different about these tweezers is that they are especially designed to get rid of ingrown hairs and splinters.

The Majestic Bombay Ingrown Hair/Splinter Tweezer are made from stainless steel and feature perfectly aligned elongated tips that allow for surgical and precise removal of unwanted facial hair, splinters and ingrown hairs. The tweezers come with a protective lid on the points, as well as a plastic sleeve for storage.

I've used these tweezers and can confirm that they are indeed very precise thanks to the ultra fine tips, but that also makes them very sharp, so be careful when using them as it is easy to damage skin if they are not used properly.

You can find the Majestic Bombay Stainless Steel Ingrown Hair/Splinter Tweezer on Amazon for £10.

Sanctuary Spa at Savers

Sanctuary Spa BB Cream

You know how I love a good bargain, so when I was in my local Savers shop and saw a Sanctuary Spa product on the shelves, I had to take a closer look. The Sanctuary Spa Skin Perfecting BB Cream normally retails for £15 but it was only £2.99 in Savers.

This product claims to protect, moisturise, conceal and brighten for a flawless finish in just one step. It also has SPF 15 to guard the skin against damaging UV exposure.

The Sanctuary Spa Skin Perfecting BB Cream comes in 2 shades: Light and Medium. I opted for the light one and its' a bit dark even for my skin but when blended well it gives you a bit of colour and a glow without looking oily or feeling greasy. It looks very natural and evens out skin tone while lightly controlling oil.

Find Sanctuary Spa Skin Perfecting BB Cream in your local savers or in Boots.

Today I visited a waitrose for the first time (and probably the last). It isn't local, but I went shopping with my in laws (mummy and sister). We had brunch in Wimpy - I had the scrambled egg, bacon and tomato croissant and a hot chocolate. We also looked in a few charity shops and I got the book My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult.

Nivea Daily Essentials Sensitive Night Cream

Nivea Daily Essentials Sensitive Night Cream

It hasn't been long since I started using a night cream, so this is only about the 3rd one ever and got it because I wanted to try it (as well as being on offer haha).

The Nivea Daily Essentials Sensitive Night Cream contains licorice extract and grape seed oil, which moisturise and help prevent redness, tightness and dryness. It is aimed at sensitive skin and is free of parabens, colours and perfume.

I don't have sensitive skin but this night cream doesn't irritate or make my skin break out, which is good. It is moisturising however it's a little bit thick, which makes it quite hard to blend into the skin, so you end up using more product. I prefer the Nivea Visage Pure & Natural Night Cream over this one.
